CBD 101: A simple guide to understanding CBD

What is CBD?
CBD (Cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring compound found in the hemp plant. It is one of over 120 cannabinoids, but unlike THC, CBD is non-intoxicating, meaning it will not produce a “high”.
CBD works by interacting with the body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) – a powerful regulatory network responsible for maintaining balance in the body.
The ECS helps regulate many important functions including:
• Sleep
• Mood
• Stress response
• Appetite
• Immune function
• Memory
• Temperature regulation
Your body already produces its own cannabinoids naturally. CBD works by supporting this system and helping the body maintain balance, a process known as homeostasis.
Our products help support this system, from our Night Drops to our Into the Deep Bath Oil and Bed Balm.
Can CBD get you high?
NO!
CBD is not psychoactive, meaning it does not alter your state of mind. The compound responsible for intoxication in cannabis is THC.
In the UK, legal CBD products must contain less than 0.2% THC. At Dreem Distillery, our CBD is THC non-detectable and verified through independent third-party laboratory testing. All of our laboratory tests are on our website here.
Why Dreem Distillery uses Broad Spectrum CBD
We pride ourselves on using broad-spectrum CBD and here’s why. There are three types of CBD commonly found on the market.
CBD Isolate
Contains only the single CBD molecule, with all other plant compounds removed. This means it lacks the naturally occurring plant compounds that can enhance CBD’s effects.
Broad Spectrum CBD (our choice)
Contains CBD (no THC) alongside other beneficial plant compounds such as:
• Minor cannabinoids
• Terpenes
• Flavonoids
These compounds work synergistically together, creating what scientists call the “Entourage Effect”, where plant compounds enhance each other’s activity.
This is the form of CBD we use across our wellness rituals including Night Drops, Bed Balm, and our body and bath oils.
Full Spectrum CBD
Contains the entire hemp plant profile, including THC.
How much CBD should you take?
CBD works differently for everyone depending on factors such as body weight, metabolism, stress levels and sleep quality.
Most people begin with a small dose and increase gradually if needed. Consistency is key, and many people notice benefits after several days of regular use. We recommend 6-8 drops of our Night Drops to begin with and then increase gradually until you find your ‘sweet spot.’ Consistency is important, and many people notice benefits after several days of regular use.
