What is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol if you want to give CBD her full name, is one of 120 different known cannabinoids that can be extracted from industrial hemp. The hemp plant is from the same botanical family as cannabis but the two plants are grown differently. That botanical family is called cannabis sativa. The main difference between hemp and cannabis is their THC content – THC is short for Tetrahydrocannabinol, it is the psychotropic cannabinoid found in cannabis. Cannabis will have more than 0.3% THC and hemp will have less than 0.3%.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD) are the two main cannabinoids that occur naturally in the cannabis plant.
CBD is non-intoxicating, which means it does not change your state of mind, whereas THC is the main psychotropic compound found in the cannabis plant which cause the ‘high’.
There is no CBD found in the seed of the cannabis plant, so if a product lists cannabis sativa SEED oil, this is actually very different. Hemp seed oil is beneficial as it is rich in essential fatty acids and minerals but it is not to be confused with the more expensive compound CBD.
CBD drops tend to be blended with a carrier oil which can range from hemp seed oil, to coconut oil, to MCT oil. Dreem Distillery uses MCT oil in our Night Drops.
What are the benefits of CBD?
Unfortunately due to current UK legislation, we are restricted to what we as a brand are able to actually say. At Dreem Distillery we are incredibly passionate about CBD and its benefits and it is as a result of discovering the power of the plant, that we decided to build Dreem Distillery and share our learnings and findings with as many people as possible.
That said, there is a lot of information online which highlights studies and research papers, which all show that CBD has been shown to support with a number of conditions from feelings of anxiety, to issues with sleep, to inflammation in the body and more.
The reason for this may be that CBD promotes homeostasis a sense of balance within the body, which ultimately keeps our bodies functioning properly. CBD works with your body’s natural endocannabinoid system which has long been regarded as the most important system in the body for maintaining long term health despite the fact many people do not know it even exists!
How does CBD work?
Studies show that our bodies contain a biological system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). You can supplement this with phytocannabinoids such as those taken from plants like CBD, stimulating your ECS to work properly.
Beyond this, CBD also prevents enzymes from breaking down your body’s natural endocannabinoids. As a result, your body can retain more endocannabinoids and thus be able to function better by itself.
Is CBD legal in the UK?
Yes. CBD is completely legal to possess and sell. The only caveats are that all products must be clearly labelled and go through third party laboratory testing, proving that they do not contain under 0.3% controlled substances such as THC.
Which plant does CBD come from?
CBD is derived directly from hemp plants. Hemp and cannabis plants have some key differences – hemp has long, strong stalks and few flowering buds. Marijuana plants are smaller, bushier and full of leafy buds. Cannabis plants have high amounts of THC and hemp is grown to have high amounts of CBD and only trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%), making it the perfect plant for sourcing CBD from.
What sets Dreem Distillery apart from the other CBD companies?
Not all CBD is created equal. We differentiate ourselves by using broad spectrum CBD, giving you the best products to aid sleep. Our broad spectrum CBD is of the highest quality and delivers the full benefits of the hemp plant. Due to the additional compounds, broad spectrum CBD can produce heightened effects as opposed to pure CBD.
Many brands use CBD isolate—a purified form of CBD, where many naturally occurring compounds from the plant have been removed, leaving a crystalline powder that can be mixed with other ingredients.
Whilst this can be powerful and healing in topicals, CBD isolate is not the ideal solution for oral products and particularly for solutions that are focused on supporting sleep as the other cannabinoids and terpenes from the hemp plant work better together to have the full effect.
Broad spectrum CBD contains the other plant compounds like other cannabinoids and terpenes which work to help the CBD support sleep while having a positive impact on our health.
What type of extraction do you use for Broad Spectrum CBD?
We use SUPERCRITICAL CO2 EXTRACTION. Using supercritical CO2 as our reliable extraction mechanism means the carbon dioxide is somewhere between a liquid and a gas with the properties of both, achieved by compressing and healing it. When CO2 is in it’s supercritical state, it is ideal for chemical extraction because it won’t cause the de-naturing or damage that would make the CBD unfit for human consumption. We also use HPLC gas chromatography which in basic English eliminates any traces of THC.
I’ve never used CBD, where should I start?
First things first, welcome to the club!
Our products are designed to help you unwind and aid sleep and relaxation, so we advise using your Dreem Distillery products in the evening—or whenever you need a little helping hand to drift off.
And just as a little heads up—some people prefer to consult a doctor before starting a new supplement.
Does CBD have side effects?
Research has concluded that CBD is perfectly safe with no known negative side effects, though some users have reported drowsiness, lightheadedness, low blood pressure, and dry mouth.
Will CBD react with my other medicine?
As per the FSA’s recommendation, you should not take CBD alongside any other medication.
Can I travel with CBD?
Dreem Distillery recommends you always check if CBD is legalised in the country and state you are travelling to.
Is CBD suitable for all ages?
Dreem Distillery will not knowingly sell our products to anyone under the age of 18.

Are Dreem Distillery products natural and organic?
CBD is a 100% naturally occurring chemical compound, direct from the hemp plant. It is not synthetically made. We use only the highest quality broad spectrum CBD to deliver the full benefits of the cannabis plant.
Importantly, we always chose organic hemp to extract our CBD from to ensure it contains no pollutants found in non organic cheaper options.
Do I need a prescription for Dreem Distillery Night Drops?
Not at all. Our Night Drops do not require a prescription as they are not a form of medical cannabis.
How do I take my Night Drops?
We advise starting with 6-8 drops under your tongue every evening, half an hour before going to bed. Just hold the drops under your tongue for 60 seconds before swallowing to help the CBD get into the bloodstream quicker.
Once you’re comfortable, slowly increase the dosage every evening until you find your sweet spot. Feel free to contact us on hello@dreemdistillery.co.uk if you would like to discuss your dosage.
Is it possible to overdose on Dreem Distillery?
There’s no reason for concern; there have been no reported incidences of injury or illness caused by taking too much CBD oil. However, we recommend a daily maximum of 17 Night Drops per day, or the equivalent of approximately 3/4 of a dropper.
Am I okay to drive after taking Dreem Distillery Night Drops?
Whilst our products don’t have any psychoactive effects, Dreem Distillery products are designed to help you unwind, so we would advise avoiding driving or operating machinery for a few hours after. We would also advise extra caution when trying our drops for the first time. Just drop them onto your tongue, sit back and relax!
Can I use Dreem Distillery while I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
The NHS does not recommend the use of any CBD products whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.
Is there an expiry date on your products?
You will find a best before date underneath your Night Drops bottle.
Where do you ship to?
